Wisc. Jewish Chronicle: Anti-democracy sentiment may be growing in Israel
Washington (JTA) — The big story emerging from last week’s Israeli elections is the success of Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Is Our Home) party.
The party won 15 seats, making it the third largest party in the Knesset and a power broker in the formation of a new government coalition.
Yet Lieberman’s success and his potential presence in a new Israeli government should be a cause of concern for those who care about Israel’s democratic future and worry about Israel’s growing international isolation.
